Enable NDI in Avid Media Composer

NDI is available in Media Composer 2018.7 and newer. NDI functionality is installed automatically during installation of Media Composer. If you can't find the OpenIO_NDI or NewTek NDI option mentioned below, you may need to reinstall Media Composer.

To enable NDI output in Avid Media Composer:

  • Right-click the HW/SW button and make sure that OpenIO_NDI or NewTek NDI is selected and Play local audio when broadcasting is enabled.
  • Click the HW/SW button. The arrow will blink red when NDI output is live.

Avid is now sending out an NDI feed which can be captured and streamed by LBS.

note

When using NDI output in Avid, any other outputs including full screen playback will be disabled. In this guide, we will setup full-screen monitoring using LBS.

caution

When working with NDI audio, your project and sequence settings should be set to 48 kHz audio and the audio clips you are working with should also be 48 kHz. Learn more
