Presenter Permissions

Presenter Permissions determine which participants can manage playback sources and playback controls in a Louper room, including:

  • Changing the current source in the room (for example, switching from a Livestream to a File)
  • Playing, pausing and seeking through uploaded files
  • Screen sharing

By using Presenter Permissions, hosts can curate their guests' experience during the review and approval process. Presenter Permissions are available on our Enterprise tier only.

Presenters and Observers​

Participants in a Louper room with Presenter Permissions enabled are assigned one of two roles: Presenters or Observers.

Only Presenters can:

  • Change the source.
  • Play, pause, or scrub the timeline of uploaded video and audio file.
  • Adjust the seekbar position.
  • Share their screen.

However, all participants — whether Presenters or Observers — can comment on files, draw on-screen, and access the video chat tools.

Setting Presenter Permissions​

By default, all participants in an Enterprise room are set as Presenters.

To change the default Presenter Permission setting for your room:

  1. Go to your dashboard at Louper.io.
  2. Click the More icon (three dots) for the room you’d like to adjust settings for.
  3. Select Room Settings from the dropdown menu.
  4. Navigate to the Access tab.
  5. Ensure that Presenter Permissions is toggled on.
  6. Choose your preferred setting:
    • Everyone
    • Host only
    • Host & Admins only
  7. You can give Admins control over participant status in addition to the Host.
  8. You can show or hide disabled playback and source selection controls from Observers.
  9. Click Save Changes.

Changing Presenter Permission Status in a Room​

During a live Louper session in a room, the Host (or Admin, if enabled) can change a participant's status:

  1. Open the Presenter Permissions tab.
  2. Click the three dots next to a participant’s name.
  3. Select Make Presenter or Make Observer.

Alternatively, the Host or Admin can click the three dots next to a participant’s name in the video chat and select Make Presenter or Make Observer.

Observers can request Presenter Permission from the Host:

  1. Open the Presenter Permissions tab.
  2. Click the three dots next to their name.
  3. Select Request to be Presenter.

The Host (or Admin) can grant or ignore this request.

Presenters can change their own status to Observer by clicking the three dots next to their name and selecting Become Observer.
