Enable NDI in Avid Media Composer

This setup guide is also available as a complete video tutorial with voice over - Click to play

NDI is available in Media Composer 2018.7 and newer. NDI functionality is installed by default during installation of Media Composer, unless you explicitly deselected it during installation. If you can't find the OpenIO_NDI or NewTek NDI option mentioned below, you may need to reinstall Media Composer.

To enable NDI output in Avid Media Composer:

  1. Right-click the HW/SW button, hover over NDI or OpenIO_NDI or NewTek NDI and click Select.
  2. Right-click the HW/SW button again and ensure Play local audio when broadcasting is enabled.
  3. Left-click the HW/SW button. The icon will flash red when NDI output is live.

Avid is now sending out an NDI feed which can be captured and streamed by LDE.

note

When using NDI output in Avid, any other outputs including full screen playback will be disabled. In this guide, we will setup full-screen monitoring using LDE.

caution

When working with NDI audio, your project and sequence settings should be set to 48 kHz audio and the audio clips you are working with should also be 48 kHz. Learn more
