Comparing Versions in a Room

You can assign a Version Stack to a Livestream or Presentation Room to view or compare versions together with your participants.

To assign a Version Stack to a Room:

  1. Navigate to the Livestream Room or Presentation Room you’d like to assign the Version Stack to.
  2. Click the Files button on the Room tile.
  3. Open a Filespace and select the Version Stack you’d like to add.
  4. Click Done.
  5. When you enter a room, the assigned files will be visible in the Sources Panel on the right hand side, and in the Sources drop down menu below the player.

You can add or remove files and Version Stacks while your room is in session. Just make sure to click on Refresh files in the sources panel of your room to make those changes visible.

To play a file in the Version Stack:

  1. Enter the Louper Room that contains your selected Version Stack.
  2. Open the Sources drop down menu below the video player, or the Sources panel in the toolbar to the right of the player.
  3. Select the Version Stack you would like to view.
  4. The default version of the file (the file at the top of your Version Stack) will appear in the player.
  5. You will see the Version number displayed below the player (eg V3 of 3).
  6. Press play to view the default version.
  7. To play an alternative version, click on the version number below the player and select another version from the list.
  8. The version number will change to indicate which version is currently being viewed (eg V2 of 3).

Any Timestamped Comments or annotations added will be saved to the version of the file currently displayed in the player. If you would like to add Timestamped Comments to another file in the stack, click the Version number below the player and select the version you’d like to work with.

To compare Versions in a Room:

  1. Select the Version Stack you’d like to work with from the Sources drop down menu, or the Sources panel.
  2. Click the Compare button below the player.
  3. Select a comparison view from the list above the player: horizontal side by side, vertical side by side, overlay with a vertical slider, overlay with horizontal slider, or AB click-and-hold overlay.
  4. The heading bar of the dominant version will be highlighted blue.
  5. During playback, you will hear the audio from the dominant version, and any Timestamped Comments added while in the Compare Versions mode will be added to the dominant file only.
  6. Click the heading bar on the other version to switch the dominant version.
  7. Play your files, or scrub the seek bar, to compare sequences or individual frames in sync with the participants in the Room.
  8. In the Horizontal and Vertical Split views, you can drag the slider across the frame to reveal more or less of the dominant file.
  9. In the AB click-and-hold view, you can click on the player to reveal the non-dominant file.
  10. If there are more than two versions in the Version Stack, you can choose another version to compare by clicking the arrow next to the file’s title and selecting an alternative file from the drop-down menu.
  11. Click the Compare button again to close the Compare Versions modal and return to viewing a single version from the stack.

Any Timestamped Comments or annotations added while in the Compare Versions modal will be saved to the dominant version. You can switch the dominant version by clicking on the heading bar for the version you’d like to comment on.
