Creating and managing a Version Stack
You can drag a file on top of another file in your Filespace to create a Version Stack. You can also drag a new file onto an existing Version Stack, to place that file at the top of the Stack.
To create a new Version Stack
- In your Louper dashboard, navigate to the Filespace you’d like to work in.
- Drag and drop a file on top of an earlier version of that file.
- You will now see a blue Version Stack icon on the thumbnail and a
V2label next to the name of the newly created Version Stack, indicating that there are two versions of this file contained in the stack. - The latest version will appear at the top of the Version Stack, and will be the default file viewed in playback.
To add files to an existing Version Stack
- Upload the latest version of a file to the Filespace you’re working in, and ensure it is in the same folder as the existing Version Stack.
- Drag and drop the most recent version of the file on top of the Version Stack.
- The version label will update to show the new total number of files in the Stack.
- The most recently added version will appear at the top of the stack, and will now be the default file viewed in playback.
To re-order, download, or remove files from a Version Stack
- Right-click on the Version Stack, or click the three-dot
Actionsbutton for the Version Stack, and selectManage Versionsfrom the drop-down menu. - In the
Manage Versions modal, you can do the following:- click and drag the drag handle on the left to re-order your files
- download individual files by clicking the
Downloadarrow - remove individual files by clicking the
Removebutton - permanently delete a file from your Filespace by clicking the
Trashbutton - you can also add a new file to the Stack by clicking
Add new Version
- Click
Saveto save your changes to the Version Stack.
To compare files in a Version Stack
- Right-click on the Version Stack, or click the three-dot
Actionsbutton for the Version Stack, and selectCompare Versionsfrom the drop-down menu. - Select a comparison view from the list at the top: horizontal side by side, vertical side by side, overlay with a vertical slider, overlay with horizontal slider, or AB click-and-hold overlay.
- The heading bar of the dominant version will be highlighted blue. During playback, you will hear the audio from the dominant version, and any Timestamped Comments added in the Compare Versions modal will be added to the dominant file only.
- Click on the heading bar for the other file, to switch the dominant version.
- Compare sequences while playing, paused or scrubbing the seek bar.
- In the Horizontal and Vertical Split views, you can drag the slider across the frame to reveal more or less of the dominant file.
- In the AB click-and-hold view, you can click on the player to reveal the non-dominant file.
- If there are more than two versions in the Version Stack, you can select another version to compare by clicking the arrow next to the file’s title, or clicking the version number button, and selecting an alternative version from the drop-down menu.
- Click
Stop Comparisonto return to viewing the default version (the file at the top of your Version Stack).
