Device Permissions

If access to your webcam or microphone is blocked when joining a Louper room, you will need to unblock webcam and microphone access in your browser's settings and rejoin your room so that other participants can see and hear you.

First, refresh the Louper room page. If you are prompted for camera and microphone access in Chrome after refreshing, click Allow. If you are not prompted for device access, follow these steps:

  • At the top right of Chrome, click More (three vertical dots) > Settings.
  • Click Security and privacy > Site settings > Camera or Microphone.
  • Review your blocked and allowed sites.
  • If https://app.louper.io:443 is listed under the 'Not allowed to use your camera' or 'Not allowed to use your microphone' section, click the Delete (traschcan) button to the right of it.
  • Refresh the Louper room page.
  • When prompted for device permissions, for example 'app.louper.io wants to use your microphone' and 'app.louper.io wants to use your camera', click Allow.
  • Click Go! to enter the room.

Turn on device permissions in macOS System Preferences

If you use macOS and your camera or microphone isn't on in your system preferences, Chrome may ask permission to use your camera or microphone. To use your camera or microphone in Chrome:

  • Open System Preferences.
  • Click Security & Privacy.
  • To enable camera or mic permissions:
Camera: Click Camera in the left column and then Select the tick box next to 'Google Chrome' in the right column.
Microphone: Click Microphone in the left column and then Select the tick box next to 'Google Chrome' in the right column.
  • Your computer may ask if you want to quit to save changes. To save changes, click Quit and reopen.
