LDE launch issues on Windows

Around September 2024, a Windows update was released that causes many applications and services to crash upon launch, or whilst running. Some instances of LDE are affected by this update. Fortunately, the fix is simple. This should stop happening completely once Microsoft pushes a new Windows update addressing this.

1. Open Control Panel
2. Select Programs > Programs and Features
3. Locate Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable (x64) - 14.40.33810, click Modify and then Repair.
4. Just in case, repeat the same for the x86 variant (the next in the list)
5. Reboot
